The Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Samuel Dubik Mahama has advised the public against attempts to tamper with the new smart meters being installed.
According to him, anyone who tampers with the new smart meter will be dealt with severely.
“We are not deliberately installing the new smart meters to cause discomfort to Ghanaians. We won't shortchange Ghanaians with the new smart meters. You cannot tamper with the new smart prepaid meters.
“I urge Ghanaians to comply with our staff installing the new smart prepaid meters. Anyone who tamper with our new smart meters would be dealt with decisively,” Samuel Dubik Mahama said.
The ECG Managing Director made this caution during an interview with Asempa FM on the ‘Ekosii sen’ programme on Tuesday, September 3.
During the interview, Samuel Dubik Mahama assured the public that the new smart meters are to ensure quality of service to customers.
He stressed that the installation of new smart meters is necessary for the sector and the good of all Ghanaians.
The MD appealed to the public to welcome the new meter installation and avoid politicizing the process.
“We are confident of replacing almost all post-paid meters with new smart prepaid meters across the country. The installation of new smart prepaid meters should not be politicized,” Samuel Dubik Mahama appealed.
