Mahama's 24-hour economy policy has turned into a disruptive virus, noise in NDC's manifesto — Allotey Jacobs
Former Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bernard Allotey Jacobs, has criticised his former party and its leader, John Dramani Mahama, over their proposed 24-hour economy policy.
Mahama, who aims to lead Ghana again in 2025, has promised to establish a 24-hour economy, introducing a 3-shift system that would allow businesses to operate continuously on 8-hour shifts.
“The hospitality industry; our restaurants, our discotheques, our nightclubs, our hotels, 24/7, 24 hours a day,” Mahama explained, highlighting the sectors he envisions operating around the clock.
However, Allotey Jacobs, commenting on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' morning show, expressed his disapproval, describing the 24-hour economy plan as impractical and disruptive.
“The 24-hour economy has turned into a disruptive virus that permeates through all the salient points in their manifesto,” he lamented.
According to Allotey Jacobs, the policy is more noisy than substance, suggesting it’s merely a distraction by the NDC's election campaign.
"This year being an electioneering campaign, you will hear a lot of noise. So, the noise has begun," he remarked.
He also accused the NDC of using their supporters to launch verbal attacks on critics, labeling them as "demons with canine teeth" ready to pounce on dissenting voices.
