Islamic Scholar sets record as first Ghanaian to attain Doctorate in Islamic Studies and IT in Saudi Arabia

Dr. Abdul-Muhsin Tanko Shamun, CEO of Hybrid Leading-Edge Company Limited, has made history as the first Ghanaian to earn a doctorate degree with distinction in Islamic Studies and Information Technology from the Asian branch of Rabbanien University.

On Saturday, August 17, 2024, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Dr. Abdul-Muhsin was honored with a citation by the executives of Al Sanad Charitable Foundation. Dr. Adel Al Asiry, CEO of the Foundation, presented the citation in recognition of Dr. Abdul-Muhsin's remarkable achievement.

A portion of the citation reads: "Abar Al-Sanad Foundation and its members are pleased to extend their sincere congratulations and best wishes to Sheikh Dr. Abdul-Muhsin Tanko Shamun Baafi for obtaining a doctorate degree with excellent grade in Information Technology and Islamic Studies from Rabbanien University."

In response, Dr. Abdul-Muhsin expressed his gratitude to the executives for the honor. He emphasized that earning this doctorate will not diminish his passion for acquiring more academic knowledge. He vowed to continue expanding his expertise in Islamic studies and other educational fields to make a meaningful impact on society.

Dr. Abdul-Muhsin’s educational journey began at Asawasi M/A Primary and JHS in Kumasi, where he balanced Arabic and English studies. He also attended Nurul-Ameen Islamic School at Asawasi and Kumasi Technical High School. He pursued Information Technology at the University of Education, Winneba, through NIIT College, and later obtained a Master’s Degree from the College of Science, Department of Information Technology, at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

Furthering his studies, Dr. Abdul-Muhsin attended the Faculty of Sharia at the Islamic University of Madina in Saudi Arabia, where he studied under renowned scholars of the Madinah Prophetic Mosque, including Sheikh Abdul Mohsen Abbad Badr, Sheikh Abu Baker Al-Jazairi, and Sheikh Mukhtar Mohammed Al-Amin Al-Shanqeeti.

Dr. Abdul-Muhsin currently serves as the Imam and preacher at Dar Al-Hijra Mosque in Adukrom, Lebanese Mosque in Kaase, and other mosques across Ghana. His preaching has taken him to countries such as Germany, the United States, Bangladesh, and Nigeria, among others.
