Politicians must swear by Nogokpo Shrine to keep their promises – Dr. Think Twice

In a passionate appeal for restoring accountability and trust in Ghana’s political landscape, the Chief Director of Think Twice Africa Consult has urged politicians to swear their oaths at the Nogokpo Shrine, invoking the spiritual legacy of Ghana’s great-grand forefathers and Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

This proposal he noted aims to address the rampant unfulfilled promises and corruption plaguing the nation’s leadership.

The Chief Director, an expert on societal pressures beyond constitutional frameworks, highlighted that Ghana’s founding leaders, who fought for the nation’s independence, were deeply rooted in traditional spiritual practices. These leaders, including Nkrumah, upheld ancestral worship traditions that symbolized truth, integrity, and commitment.

Despite being born into a Christian home, he noted that Nkrumah fully embraced traditional spirituality and ancestor worship, famously visiting the Nogokpo Shrine to swear an oath of truth and sincerity during the struggle for independence.

According to the Chief Director, Nkrumah’s dedication to these traditional values set a high standard for leadership that today’s politicians have failed to maintain. Unlike Nkrumah, who avoided amassing personal wealth and prioritized national interests over personal or family gain, he indicated that current leaders often swear oaths on religious texts like the Bible or Quran, only to betray public trust by looting state resources and enriching themselves, often at the expense of the populace, particularly the youth.

The Chief Director emphasized that to restore confidence and ensure politicians keep their promises, they should take their oaths at the Nogokpo Shrine, just as their ancestors did. "This symbolic act would serve as a powerful reminder of the spiritual and moral responsibilities they carry as leaders."

“Our ancestors fought for this nation with their blood, and they were not Christians or Muslims but deeply spiritual traditionalists. Politicians today should emulate their integrity by swearing their oaths at the Nogokpo Shrine, as Nkrumah did, to demonstrate their commitment to truth and sincerity,” the Chief Director stated.

The Chief Director of Think Twice Africa Consult stressed that politicians chose their roles voluntarily, and therefore it is incumbent upon them to honor their promises with the same trust and honesty that characterized the leadership of Nkrumah and the forefathers. “It’s time for our politicians to stand before the Nogokpo Shrine and pledge their unwavering dedication to the people of Ghana,” he declared.
