Prepare for 24-hour economy — Prof. Jane Naana tells businesses

Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the running mate to John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on manufacturing companies and traders to prepare for the implementation of a 24-hour economy, which is a key part of the NDC's agenda to address the country's economic challenges.

Speaking at a durbar of Chiefs at Denkyira Bibianiha in the Upper Denkyira East constituency of the Central Region, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang emphasized that the 24-hour economy policy aims to counteract the economic mismanagement of the current government. She outlined that the policy would provide companies with benefits such as tax waivers, reduced tariff rates, and increased productivity. She added that the job shift system associated with this policy would also create more employment opportunities and financial stability for workers and households.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang addressed concerns raised by Nana Appiah Kubi, the chief of Denkyira Bibianiha, regarding the high rates of unemployment and poverty in the area, which have led to a sense of hopelessness among the youth. She assured the chief and the people that the NDC plans to restore hope and rebuild the economy to meet the aspirations of Ghanaians.

During her visit to the town's market, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang highlighted the government's lack of responsibility to support small-scale enterprises through credit and other means. She also emphasized the importance of providing the necessary infrastructure for the rapid development of areas like Dunkwa and Denkyira that is currently lacking.

She reminded the Chiefs that significant infrastructure projects, such as roads, health centers, and schools, were implemented under previous NDC governments. She urged them to vote for the NDC to continue its work in the area, stating, "We have done it before, and you can trust us to do it again for you."

Nana Appiah Kubi expressed his support for the NDC, noting the community's desire for economic development. He wished the NDC success in the upcoming elections and requested that the rehabilitation of the local health facility be prioritized when the NDC returns to power.
