Specifically, my apprehension lies with the provisions that exempt legislators, ministers, and Supreme Court judges from speed limits and allow them to use sirens and strobe lights.

As a conscientious citizen, I firmly believe that these privileges undermine the principle of equality before the law and compromise public safety. Allow me to outline the key points of my concern:

1. Speed Limits: The exemption of legislators and ministers from speed limits establishes a hazardous precedent. Speed limits are in place to safeguard all road users, and no individual must be exempt from these regulations. Granting certain individuals, the ability to flout speed limits puts the safety of ordinary citizens at risk.

2. Sirens and Strobe Lights: The proposed provisions permitting the use of sirens and strobe lights by legislators, ministers, and judges raise substantial concerns. These signaling devices are vital for emergency vehicles to respond to critical situations. Extending these privileges to non-emergency vehicles creates the potential for confusion and misuse, possibly impeding genuine emergency responses.

3. Public Perception: Such exemptions erode public trust in our institutions. The public expects legislators and judges to uphold the law rather than enjoy exemptions from it. These privileges project an image of elitism and favoritism, undermining the credibility of our democratic system.

I respectfully urge you to reconsider these amendments and prioritize the safety and equitable treatment of all citizens. Our roads should be governed by impartial and consistent regulations, irrespective of one's position or status.
