NAPO is Chosen. Diaspora Requests Showdown

Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as Nana Poku (NAPO), a confident Ashanti royal and dedicated NPP grassroots MP, has been chosen as the vice-presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

NAPO's selection has been met with overwhelming approval within the party nationwide. He is cherished across all factions of the NPP. Supporters of Bawumia, the NPP's presidential candidate, are particularly grateful for NAPO's significant role in securing Bawumia’s nomination. Floating voters, who appreciate bold and confident politicians, are likely to favor NAPO. Moreover, previously aggrieved party members are expected to re-engage with the election process due to NAPO's selection. Even those who called for a "showdown" during the NPP presidential primaries take solace in NAPO's candidacy.

Hon. Kennedy Agyapong has openly expressed his preference for NAPO as the vice-presidential candidate. During the intense NPP parliamentary primaries in Bantama, Hon. Agyapong, a highly influential figure, publicly announced that he would campaign again if NAPO were chosen. Now that NAPO is indeed the chosen candidate, Agyapong’s preference has been honored.

NPP members in the diaspora are calling for a grand showdown in the 2024 general election. Diaspora4DMB, the only diaspora supporters' organization active during the NPP presidential primaries, has echoed this call. Members of Diaspora4DMB have declared their full support for NAPO, having campaigned alongside him for Bawumia’s candidacy. They recognize NAPO’s popularity among the party’s grassroots. Diaspora4DMB is rallying Hon. Agyapong's supporters abroad to pool resources for a significant showdown against the NDC, particularly targeting the NDC vice-presidential candidate.

Diaspora4DMB has requested that NAPO launch a vigorous campaign with Hon. Agyapong as his lieutenant. They envision a dynamic NAPO-KEN showdown campaign that will prompt the NDC’s vice-presidential candidate, along with the perennial NDC presidential candidate, John, to retreat into political retirement.
