Press On Charity Foundation donates to Serekpere R/C J.H.S to mark World’s Hygiene Day

Press On Charity Foundation, a non-profit organization, donated menstrual hygiene items to girls at Serekpere R/C Junior High School in the Nadowli-Kaleo district of the Upper West Region on Friday, May 31, 2024.

This initiative was part of the commemoration of World Menstrual Hygiene Day, observed annually on May 28.

The foundation's annual initiative includes donating menstrual items and books, as well as providing menstrual hygiene education. This aims to enlighten girls on maintaining hygiene during menstruation and educating boys on their role in eradicating the stigma associated with menstruation. Each girl from J.H.S. one to three received a pack of sanitary pads, while the boys were given an exercise book each.

Speaking to the media, the founder of Press On Charity Foundation, Miss Amina Kasim, emphasized the foundation's commitment to empowering vulnerable school children to pursue their educational careers fully. Despite financial constraints, the foundation strives to execute such projects to the best of its ability. She urged stakeholders and benevolent individuals to support the foundation's activities to extend their charitable work to more vulnerable students in the Upper West Region and beyond. Miss Amina Kasim also expressed gratitude to the staff of Serekpere R/C J.H.S. for facilitating the project.

Ba-amawie Barbara, a student and beneficiary of the donation, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Press On Charity Foundation for the donation and education on personal hygiene, noting that the initiative will help them maintain hygiene during menstruation.

The head teacher of the school, Mr. Garib Charles, expressed the administration's appreciation for the initiative. He highlighted that the project would empower girls regarding their menstrual hygiene and called for more such projects from other benevolent organizations.
