May 16: Rainstorms from Togo, Nigeria approaching Ghana mid-morning into the afternoon — GMet
The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) is warning Ghanaians of impending rainstorms moving in from neighbouring Togo and Nigeria this morning.
In its 24-hour forecast issued on Thursday morning, May 16, GMet reported that "A moderate rainstorm sited over northern Togo is expected to expand and propagate westwards to induce cloudiness with thunderstorms or rain of varying intensity over the northern half of the country this morning. Gusty winds will precede the storm."
The forecast further stated that "a separate rainstorm observed over southern Nigeria is anticipated to drift westward to produce scattered to widespread thunderstorms and rain of varying intensity over southern Ghana from mid-morning into the afternoon."
Areas that can expect thunderstorms and rain include Accra, Cape Coast, Takoradi, Kumasi and Tamale among others, according to the detailed city-by-city forecast issued by GMet.
