Komla Dumor would’ve been my Vice Presidential nominee in one of my earlier bids — Alan Kyerematen
Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, leader of the Movement for Change political group and 2024 independent presidential candidate, has eulogised renowned Ghanaian journalist Komla Dumor on the 10th anniversary of his death.
In a post via X on Thursday, January 18, Mr. Kyerematen fondly remembered Dumor as someone who would have been his running mate had he won the presidential primary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the past.
"Komla would have been my Vice-Presidential Nominee in one of my earlier Presidential Primary bids," Mr. Kyerematen wrote on X.
The former NPP flagbearer contender and Trade Minister noted that he and the journalist shared a close bond due to their common birthday on October 3.
"He and I shared a common day of birth, 3rd October, and in that respect, we considered ourselves as 'soul brothers'," the former minister said.
He said Komla Dumor, despite being much younger, was a peer he could communicate with freely due to the journalist's "maturity and depth of reasoning."
The pair, according to the politician, engaged in "very stimulating discussions about his work in journalism and my fields of public service and private-sector engagement.”
Remembering Komla Dumor's contributions, Kyerematen stated: "Komla, you fought a good fight at home in Ghana and around the world. You have left deep footprints that will always remain etched in history."
