NPP primaries: Even if I lose, I'll still campaign to ‘break the 8’ — COP Alex Mensah

George Alex Mensah, a retired Commissioner of Police contesting the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) parliamentary primary in Bekwai, has vowed to continue campaigning for the party even if he does not secure the nomination.

Speaking on Accra-based 3Fm's Sunrise program on Tuesday, January 16, COP Alex Mensah (Rtd.) stated his ties with the ruling party remain unbreakable.

“I will be successful but if I am not successful in becoming the Bekwai MP, I'm still a member of the NPP so I will campaign to break the 8-year cycle of governance [and win third successive elections] so that is what we need to do be it is very important to continue,” he said.

According to the NPP member, the party has several pragmatic policies that can help develop the country further.

He highlighted some of the NPP's achievements like free senior high school education, noting the NDC will cancel it if given the mandate.

"We have good policies to develop Ghana such as what we have already done like the free SHS which some people are saying when they come, they will cancel it.

“Something that has been given to somebody freely and you want to review it. I don't get it. Maybe they have to explain further. We[in the NPP] suspect that they will cancel it when they come," he asserted.
