Breaking Boundaries: Ghanaian Scholar Makes History with Three PhDs in Accounting
In a groundbreaking achievement that has sent ripples through the academic community, Professor Joseph Kwasi Agyemang, a Senior Lecturer in the Accounting and Finance Department at the University of Eswatini, has carved his name in history by becoming the first person worldwide to hold three distinct PhDs in accounting. His unwavering dedication and groundbreaking research have not only solidified his status as a trailblazer but have also positioned the University of Eswatini at the forefront of global accounting scholarship.
Professor Agyemang’s triumphant journey began with a profound fascination for numbers and their ability to unravel profound insights about businesses and organizations. His relentless pursuit of knowledge led him to achieve three distinctive PhDs in Public Sector Accounting, Accounting Information and Auditing from reputable institutions across the globe.
The three coveted PhDs were earned from the University of South Africa, Al-Madinah International University in Malaysia and Universidad Central de Nicaragua in Nicaragua, showcasing the diversity and depth of his expertise. Moreover, Professor Agyemang holds a Master of Philosophy in Accounting Sciences and has pursued master’s degrees in Commerce and Financial Management from esteemed universities in India. His educational journey also includes a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the Christian Service University and a Higher National Diploma in Accountancy from Sunyani Technical University in Ghana.
However, Professor Agyemang’s academic odyssey was far from smooth. Financial challenges loomed large early on, prompting him to become a sandal hawker to fund his education. Undeterred by obstacles, his tenacity earned him the moniker “Africa”. His journey stands as a testament to the pivotal role of hard work, dedication and passion in achieving academic milestones.
