Today, bribery, and corruption have become legitimate franchises. Ghana, where gone our moral fibre?
Giving and taking bribes was done secretly in kalabule days. Today, it's all in public and on camera. All the sacrifice during the " We no go sit down make dey cheat us every day " period has come to noth?. What a shame, Akufo Addo..... mansa musa writes ✍
The other time, one of my readers who happens to be a lady I do respect very much, she chided me for using some dirty, crooked words and some unpleasant language in some of my write ups. I really want to apologise beforehand and to forewarn anyone who doesn't like certain sharp words. Please do not read this little piece to the end.
Why am I saying this, I am angry because back in my day, which was not long ago, bribery was something that took place behind closed doors and in the dark somewhere. To dish out money to influence decisions on any activity was considered illegal, a criminal offence. When growing up, in the kalabule days, it was almost unthinkable to see oldmen, old women, young men, and young women being lined up and given cash as inducements.
No one dared to brandish wards of cash received for the purpose of influencing their decision-making. For public office holders and politicians to boldly assemble voters in public and give them raw cash before casting their votes, and for these bribe-takers to public rejoice and boast about their conquest, showing their ill-gotten moneys into cameras for the whole world to see. This didn't happen in the old, primitive days and shouldn't be happening now.
Today, in Akufo Addo times, The Akufo Addo , who promised to adopt and adapt to the Anas Principle to combat corruption and its related activities, today, Ghanaians take bribes in public and are allowed to do so gleefully, all smiles, on camera as seen at Kumawu and at Assin North by-elections. I repeat, in the years gone by, bribery and corruption were done in secret. Today, bribery and corruption have become legitimate franchises . So please allow me to say this, in plain, local english street language, Akufo Addo, you have fucked up the country. Big time . Oh! What a shame
