Haruna Iddrisu's Leadership Must Be Commended Not Slighted
We are told when a party is in opposition the party machinery revolves around its Members of Parliament, a duty Leader Haruna Iddrisu's and his lieutenants performed creditably.
Former chairman Ofosu Ampofo claimed credit for the 2020 general elections, the former general secretary now the party chairman is beating his chest as the one that delivered the 2020 remarkable results.
The fulcrum on which that success was achieved have been relegated to the background and are being slighted by those who operated from the periphery and deluding themselves of a success their contribution were negligible.
If Members of Parliament are the arrowhead of an opposition party then the northern tripod made of Speaker Bagbin, Haruna Iddrisu and Mohamed Muntaka leadership must be commended for their efforts that gave the National Democratic Congress 137 seats in the eight Parliament. And for first time in the history of this country they single handedly made it possible in the eight Parliament for an opposition party member elected as the Speaker of Parliament.
Leader Alban Bagbin had an uninterrupted eight eight years as the minority leader, why disrupt a team that appears to have absolute confidence in their leadership and relatively performing creditably.
It's a fact certain actions and inactions of the NDC members of Parliament ruffled the rank and file of the party, which created some mistrust and suspicions of believing their members of Parliament were compromised.
They can not be blame entirely on those decisions they took which incurred the displeasure of the party members, some of the decisions were influence through directives from the Party leadership...
It's also true some Members of Parliament tried to undermine the authority of Speaker Bagbin and the notable culprit is Mohamed Muntaka, and it appears they were carried away by their singular effort that contributed in making Mr Bagbin the Speaker, and that infraction does not warrant their removal.
It's a common knowledge some former appointees and loyalist of former president John Mahama are scheming to impose him on the party as the sole flag bearer, and they are doing everything possible to frustrate other potential contenders.
The removal of Haruna Iddrisu, the exorbitant filing fees and the subtle dislike for the ahotor project etc, gave credence to a well orchestrated strategy of giving an undeserved advantage to one and only former president John Mahama.
President John Mahama have seen it all and must be allowed to have his seat amongst the council of elders peacefully and not to be persuaded to muddy himself again in this hostile campaigns for leadership of the country.
All forms of reasons and allegations were used to relegate the former chairman Ofosu Ampofo and Haruna Iddrisu, it's fair the former president step aside and allow a new leadership to emerge, because he was part of a tripod that held the party structure afloat. now that two of legs have been yank off, i.e the party former national chairman and the minority leader have been removed, therefore it's obvious that structure John Mahama was part of has collapsed..
Based on the indication given that the 2024 general elections would be fought on the economy, therefore that decision must influence who leads NDC...
