Re-dedicate yourselves to working for victory in 2024 – NDC Council of Elders to MPs, party leadership
The Council of Elders of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has stressed that it is important for the party to remain calm and united ahead of the next general elections.
In a press release dated January 28, signed by the Chairman of the Elders, Alhaji Mahama Iddrisu, the Council called on Members of Parliament and the leadership of the party to re-dedicate themselves while working towards wrestling power from the ruling NPP government in the 2024 general elections.
“We urge all members of the NDC to re-dedicate themselves to working for victory in the Presidential and Parliamentary,” the release said.
The NDC Council of Elders released the presser to calm nerves following the agitations by some Members of Parliament after the party leadership led by National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia reshuffled the leadership of the Minority in Parliament without consulting them.
In its efforts to settle the impasse, the Council in its release says the necessary steps are being taken on the matter.
“The Council has initiated steps to act expeditiously on the petition and related matters. While this process is underway, the Council urges our Honourable Members of Parliament, Party leadership at all levels, and all concerned persons to refrain from further public pronouncements on the matter in the larger interest of our great NDC. This is a time to be circumspect in order not to play into the hands of our detractors,” part of the release from the NDC Council of Elders said.
