Cedi depreciation: Bawumia and his team must resign — Joyce Bawa
Joyce Bawa Mogtari, Special Assistant to former President John Dramani Mahama is heartbroken over the Cedi's worst performance in the world currency rankings.
She blamed the Vice President and his Economic Management Team for the cedi woes.
In a tweet spotted by Modernghana News, the NDC staunch member is asking the Vice President and his team to resign for causing the nation such a disaster.
“The Cedi has finally spiralled out of control, Mahamadu Bawumia and his so-called solid Team have failed to deliver better exchange rates or to arrest the Dollar, should they not be resigning from their jobs?” she asked.
Miss Bawa’s assertion is on the heels of Ghana's local currency suffering significantly, now trading at GHS11.80 per dollar, resulting in massive losses to many indigenous businesses.
Bloomberg recently ranked it as the world's worst-performing currency, trailing only the Sri Lankan Rupee.
In addition, the country has seen historically high consumer inflation of over 37.2% in September, resulting in an astronomical rise in the prices of general goods and services.
