Lord! I need thy mercy
I. MY DEAR BROTHERS IN THE LORD, if there is one prayer every man must pray every day, it is this: . Yes! We need wisdom, power, and money, but more than all these, we need MERCY. Because without mercy, wisdom will not save you, power will fail you, and money will leave you.
In Lamentations 3:22-23, it is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. My friend, the reason you are alive today after all you went through is not because you were good. It is because God was merciful. When justice says 'Guilty,' mercy says ‘Forgiven.’ In Psalm 103:10, “He does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.” We will explore why we need mercy, where it is seen, how to obtain it, and what it does. Without mercy, that protracted struggle will consume you. That marital problem will destroy you. That mistake at the office will finish you.
II. MY BELOVED SISTERS IN THE LORD, the blind Bartimaeus in MARK 10:47–48 cried out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Even though people told him to be quiet, he shouted louder, and as a result, Jesus stopped, healed him, and his life changed. The Canaanite woman also in MATTHEW 15:22 exclaimed, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is demon-possessed.” She refused to be offended; as a result, Jesus Christ said, “Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted.” Matt 15:28. DAVID, after committing adultery and murder as captured in Acts 13:22, later in PSALM 51, cried out, "Have mercy on me, O God.” And indeed, God heard his prayer and restored him and called him “a man after my own heart.” The thief on the cross in LUKE 23:42 & 43 also cried out, “Jesus, remember me.” Jesus said, “Today you will be with me in paradise.” The cry for mercy wiped away all his sin, and he was granted a visa to enter into Heaven with Jesus Christ. In Micah 7:18, “Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives? And in 1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us.” Cry out today, Lord! Have mercy upon me.
III. SON OF MAN, what about the cry of the tax collector in Luke 18:14—"But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven but beat his breast and said, "God, have mercy on me, a sinner,' and the Lord heard his cry, and scripture tells us that “This man, rather than the other, went home justified before God.” Beloved, when we cry for mercy, God will give us another chance; it will bring us healing, lift us up when we are cast down, and restore us. However, if we fail to cry for mercy, James 2:13 teaches us that then “Judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful.” While Hebrews 10:31 makes it clear that “It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” Nobody can stand before God and say, “I am clean.” Isaiah 64:6 “All our righteous acts are like filthy rags.” If God marked iniquity, who can stand? Psalm 130:3.
IV. DAUGHTER OF ZION, where our strength fails, mercy will never fail. Titus 3:5 “He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy.” And in Psalm 51:1 he cried, “Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love.” Today, through his mercies, you shall be forgiven and restored, as Joel 2:25 says, “I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten.” Psalm 145:14 “The Lord upholds all who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down.” Psalm 40:2 “He lifted me out of the slimy pit.” Through mercy, closed doors will be open for you. And through you shall be delivered from judgment—James 2:13, “Mercy triumphs over judgment.” What should have killed you, mercy stopped it. Mercy says, "You can start again. Today can be your day one. Today accept that you need mercy, stop justifying yourself, and stop blaming your spouse, your boss, and your parents. Today I say, Lord, I need mercy. This is a DIVINE NEW DAY PROPHETIC WORD of encouragement sent forth through the authority and power of Christ Jesus and delivered to the brethren through God's Vessel, Francis Ameyibor. Yes! Matthew 5:7 says, “Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.”
V. 2026 IS OUR YEAR AND SEASON TO BE LIFTED UP—Cry for mercy continually, not occasionally. The Blind Bartimaeus didn’t whisper. He SHOUTED for mercy. Keep shouting until Jesus Christ stops.
PRAYER: . LORD! Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your unfailing love; have mercy on my family, on my marriage, on my business and office, on my health, and on my destiny. LORD, where I have been judged, let mercy speak; where I have been condemned, let mercy lift me; and where I have fallen, let mercy restore me. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
