Adwoa Safo's uncultured and uncouth funeral for Kantanka King

Adwoa Safo's funeral flatters a disgraceful man.

​Not a great man like Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka.

​The atmosphere was rife with village idiocy.

​I thought Sarah Adwoa Safo was almost dying after getting shot; apparently, she didn't need treatment abroad. I thought her face was ruined—another lie. I don't know, maybe the bullets transferred to her arm with the armband. Yet she managed to dance with that arm easily at the funeral. Is there no level of shame she cannot descend to? It was such a village fair.

​First was Maame Ode dressed in so many sparkles at one of the events; it was polythene bag meets glitter. Then came the gutter behavior. The shades—I couldn't believe my eyes. This great man, the great Kantanka, was reduced to shades and vulgar dancing at his funeral, reduced to silly signs from Sarah Adwoa Safo herself. Was this a concert party? The food wasn't even nice. At one point, someone posted a video online of her asking her son about the food, and it seems the jollof rice wasn't nice.

​Then her brother couldn't even find nice words to say about his own father. He inserted ChatGPT or AI text so smoothly he forgot to remove the prompt insert from his speech. Seriously, or did they also cheat in their exams like those caught cheating in the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) last year? Because this is insane. They could not even spell Apostle correctly on the poster. Sarah Adwoa Safo should bow her head in shame. I refuse to call her a lawyer because she has no regard for the law. Yet I didn't even think she had so little regard for herself like this—a woman over 30, though she was an abysmal Member of Parliament. She held her country and party hostage due, once again, to her pride over nothing, because there is nothing special about Sarah Adwoa Safo. Even if her role models are Delilah and Jezebel, they were all conquered in the end. They were much better at being wicked; she is wicked to the point that she makes herself look ridiculous.

​She is happy because village champions on social media are calling her Yaa Asantewaa and Muammar Gaddafi—people who actually achieved something in life. She is nothing like them. She couldn't even handle her constituency, her ministerial post, or even a funeral. She couldn't even hire a funeral director or someone who could spell Apostle. She couldn't even hire a speechwriter or a good chef. Even poor people wouldn't have managed a funeral like that. The outside buildings looked okay, but anyone with class could have done better. Even Ebony Reigns had a nicer funeral, and she was just starting her career. Yet a great man like Kantanka gets a village festival.

​The dancers were mediocre, and the event was mediocre. They couldn't showcase his designs, couldn't speak of his accomplishments well, and the tributes didn't flow properly. Did they not see the children of Jerry John Rawlings bury their mother and father with such beauty and dignity? Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings is also a Member of Parliament—well, she still is—something Sarah Adwoa Safo couldn't manage: keeping her job. Zanetor handled the funeral and her siblings with so much warmth, respect, and dignity. Sarah Adwoa Safo wants to be celebrated like the eldest, but she acts like a child. The whole funeral was childish, a toddler fest. Zanetor is what we call a big sister.

​Of course, no former presidents came, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II did not make an appearance, no major businessmen came, hardly any chiefs came, and no high-profile personalities attended. Who did she have there at her law-breaking funeral? Chairman Wontumi's lawyer—no surprise there. The same lawyer for Adu Boahen—no surprise there. And a former New Patriotic Party (NPP) office holder who, guess what, was also arrested earlier this year. Even Cecilia Dapaah didn't find it fitting to attend this funeral, and that is saying something. It is good they didn't go: first, because they respect the law; second, because they respect the man's will; and third, because she thinks it is clever that she hid the body and smuggled it in—according to her spokesperson, it was never at the transition home. Little girl games. What were the dignitaries supposed to watch? Primary and secondary school childish antics of shades and dancing. I didn't think she could stoop so low to this kind of uncultured behavior and be proud of it. It is shocking.

​Now the Ghanaian judiciary must make an example of her. She is not above Ghanaian law. She cannot lie that she didn't get the injunction. After all, she thought she was being smart; now we know her head is fine, her arm is fine, and she can clearly think well enough to be this petty. So all her exaggerations about her injuries were a lie. She lied about Otumfuo setting the date. She still maintains the lie that she was sitting in parliament when clearly it was somebody else, while she was in the United States dancing on TikTok. The level of shamelessness this woman possesses is not fitting for Kantanka's daughter.

​Yet we haven't seen the last of Adwoa, no. She showed us who she was when she was a Member of Parliament; she could even berate the father of her own children in public without any care for her kids. Now she fought her brother, dismissed a court injunction, and didn't even care about the Parliament of Ghana. It is high time she is called to order. What a disgraceful funeral. The saddest part is those saying she is the reason to take your girl child to school. That they wish they will give birth to a girl like Adwoa Safo. Someone who cant use exposure to be civilised ? Someone who is scheming and does not respect the law or office ? Something must change in Ghana. When Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings preached send your girl child to school. It was so they become like her and Zanetor or other civilised accomplished women in society. To do better for Ghana and themselves. Our young women cannot be aspiring to this level of recklessness.
