Be Careful; Manasseh Is Treacherous
I. MY BELOVED SISTERS AND DEAR BROTHERS, in this season as you march forward to do exploits, it shall be well with you and your households. Take that bold step of faith, but you must also be careful, for Manasseh is a treacherous king. Beloved, the name "Manasseh" means "causing to forget." It was meant to be a name of blessing. Joseph named his son Manasseh because "God has made me forget all my trouble" (Genesis 41:51). There is something in a name; be careful of the names you respond to. Scripture reveals to us another Manasseh, the King Manasseh of Judah. This Manasseh changed the original blessings associated with the name. Instead of helping people forget their pain, he made a nation forget God. "And he did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to the abominations of the nations..." 2 Kings 21:2. Today God is saying to the Church, to families, to you and me: "Be careful. Manasseh is treacherous."
II. SON OF MAN, "treachery" means deceit, betrayal, and danger under a smooth surface. And the spirit of Manasseh still walks among us. Manasseh reigned long but reigned wrongly. Longevity on the throne does not necessarily mean you are the only wise person. Leadership does not mean you are the most powerful. How long have you been in the seat? How are you leading that organization? How are you ruling your family? Your church? Manasseh was 12 years old when he began to reign, and he reigned 55 years in Jerusalem (2 Kings 21:1). Longevity in church is not proof of godliness. You can sit in church 55 years and still be treacherous. In 2 Kings 21:3, Manasseh didn’t cancel God; he added other gods. Today mixing truth with trends, mixing the altar with entertainment is part of the deceptions of the Manasseh spirit. In 2 Kings 21:6, Manasseh looked for answers outside of God and tactfully called it seeking "direction" or "strategy." Today, we are justifying the wrong path with deceptive names. We must be careful of Manasseh’s treachery today.
III. DAUGHTER OF ZION in 2 Kings 21:7: “He set a carved image of Asherah in the house of the LORD." Deception, bringing what is profane into what is sacred. When strange cultures enter the pulpit, it is a carved image. We cannot import worldliness into the church and give it a new classification. In 2 Kings 21:16, “Manasseh shed very much innocent blood, till he had filled Jerusalem from one end to another.” This is the peak of treachery. When a leader, a system, or a spirit begins to silence truth-tellers, prophets, and the vulnerable, we kill the innocent. Manasseh is not just a man in the Bible. He is a spirit and a pattern. Today, Manasseh shows up to normalize evil. What Judah once called an abomination, Manasseh called policy reforms. Be careful what you get used to. Familiarity can make sin look like culture. Manasseh didn’t remove the Temple. He put an idol inside it. You cannot serve God and compromise—Matthew 6:24. Shedding innocent blood isn’t only physical. It’s character assassination, false accusations, canceling the voice of the righteous, abortion, and neglect of the poor. Proverbs 6:17 tells us that “hands that shed innocent blood” the Lord hates.
IV. PRECIOUS IN THE LORD, as you seek to do exploits for the Lord, guard your tongue, your business practices, and your influence. The spirit of replacing God as the center of our worship and placing man at the center. Bishops, Reverend Ministers, Pastors, and Prophets cannot perform miracles, prophesy, preach, or teach the one if God does not make the way. Let's not replace God in our churches. Let's stop worshipping men instead of God. In Deuteronomy 6:12 we are cautioned, “Then beware lest you forget the LORD.” In 2 Chronicles 33:10-13, scripture teaches that “The LORD spoke to Manasseh and to his people, but they paid no attention. Therefore, the LORD brought... and they bound him with chains and took him to Babylon. And when he was in distress, he entreated the favour of the LORD his God and humbled himself greatly... and the LORD was moved by his entreaty and heard his plea and brought him again to Jerusalem.” This is a DIVINE NEW DAY PROPHETIC WORD of encouragement sent forth through the authority and power of Christ Jesus and delivered to the brethren through God's Vessel, Francis Ameyibor, Yes! Refrain from the sins of Manasseh today, or something would force you to go back to God.
V. 2026 IS OUR YEAR AND SEASON TO BE LIFTED UP—If Manasseh could be forgiven, no one is beyond God’s reach. But be careful — don’t test God’s patience.
PRAYER: Father, in the name of Jesus, we break every spirit of Manasseh—deception, idolatry, and bloodshed—from our lives, families, and nation. Give us eyes to see treachery early. Give us hearts that do not forget You. In Jesus Christ’s name we pray. Amen.
