AMINA KAMARA TOURS WEST AFRICA FOR MISS WEST AFRICA 2009
The first ever Miss West Africa, Amina Kamara is set to tour West Africa in late March searching for some of the best faces to be represented in the next Miss West Africa 2009. Since winning Miss West Africa 2008 Amina Kamara has been opened to various modelling opportunities and special invites but more important she has taken this opportunity to contribute to the fight for a resolution to the sickle cell problems around the world.
Sierra Leone born Amina Kamara, daughter of Alieu and Kadiatu Kamara, has now made a strong mark in history by now becoming the main focus of the Official Miss West Africa website at www.missafrica.com , allowing the world to keep up with her tracks. Amina claims “Miss West Africa 2009 is going to be big, and I'm proud to be judging, sashing as well as coaching the new winner, I'm so excited, I think there is so much teachings I would love to pass on”.
Amina Kamara has enjoyed her title as Miss West Africa 2008 and is looking forward to her West African tour in march raising awareness about Sickle Cell and how important it is for African's especially West Africans and West Africa's health institutions to act swiftly on this particular area. She states “It's interesting, because when you are competing in Miss West Africa you feel you are doing it for the particular West African country you are from, but when I won, I realise I was upheld internationally by West Africans from the sub region all over the world, and their concerns become yours to. That that is a big responsibility and I just want to do the most I can with the title for West Africans allover”
Amina Kamara has dedicated herself to highlighting the seriousness of Sickle Cell and is calling out everyone who doesn't know much about it to do some reading, and those that know to get active and go to their local and genuine sickle cell charity and support. She is also currently working with the International Youth Development Trust which is providing support for orphans and victims of HIV and aids, street kids and abused youths in Sierra Leone as well as Crystal Clear-Klinwata Foundation aimed at providing clean and healthy water for the rural areas of Sierra Leone. Amina will also be engaged in other activities of other West African countries and she will also be speaking at the Ghana Independence celebration.
