Shatta Wale Urges Young Creatives to Stay Consistent, Reveals Earning $45,000 on TikTok Live
Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale has encouraged upcoming musicians and creative entrepreneurs to remain consistent in promoting their work, emphasising that regular audience engagement is crucial for building a sustainable career in today’s entertainment landscape.
Speaking on rapper YPee’s podcast, The Real Ones, Shatta Wale reflected on how social media has become a powerful tool for artistes to connect with fans and generate income. He revealed that he has earned approximately $45,000 from virtual gifts during his TikTok livestreams.
According to him, his journey on TikTok began after content creator Jackline Mensah persistently urged him to migrate from Facebook Live to TikTok Live. Initially hesitant — believing the platform was dominated by Gen Z users — Shatta Wale eventually gave it a try and discovered a new avenue for both engagement and revenue.
“It used to be Facebook Live at first. Until this lady named Jackline Mensah kept pressuring me to go on TikTok Live,” he said.
His success on the platform, he noted, demonstrates how digital spaces have expanded opportunities for entertainers beyond traditional channels such as live shows and music streaming.
“When I open my TikTok account, I have made about $45,000 on there, because I get a lot of gifts during my livestreams,” he disclosed.
Beyond sharing his earnings, Shatta Wale stressed the importance of consistency for anyone hoping to build a career in music or creative entrepreneurship.
“So anyone who wants to be in the music business, he or she has to be consistent in promoting his/her products,” he advised.
His message reinforces a growing reality in the digital entertainment era: talent alone is not enough. Building an audience, maintaining visibility, and engaging fans regularly are now essential components of success for emerging artistes navigating an increasingly competitive industry.
