Isolirium Entertainment submits five recordings for GRAMMY Awards consideration

Ghanaian independent record label Isolirium Entertainment has submitted five recordings for consideration for the GRAMMY® Awards, with works spanning Ghanaian and international musical influences.

The label, which operates between Bolgatanga, Accra and Austin, Texas, made the announcement in a document titled “For Your Consideration,” outlining five recordings submitted for consideration across different GRAMMY® categories.

The recordings are “No Miracles,” “Lazy No Go Chop,” “Devil’s Game (Live),” “Preach,” and “Rock On.” They have been submitted for consideration in categories including Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance, Best Global Music Performance, Best Traditional R&B Performance, Best Melodic Rap Performance and Best R&B Collaboration or Duo/Group Performance.

According to the submission document, the five recordings reflect collaborations involving artists and musicians from Ghana and the United States, with songs performed in Gurene, Ghanaian Pidgin and English. The projects feature a Ghanaian live band, a kologo player, an American rapper and a Frafra vocalist.

Among the recordings is “Lazy No Go Chop,” a collaboration involving Stevo Atambire and Dr. Pushkin. The song combines Gurene and Pidgin vocals with the kologo, a traditional two-string lute associated with the Frafra people of Ghana’s Upper East Region. The document notes that Stevo Atambire recorded his contribution in Bolgatanga, while Dr. Pushkin recorded his verses in Austin, Texas.

Another submission, “No Miracles,” features Ataman Nikita, Dr. Pushkin and Jon Connor. The record is described as a protest song built around an exchange between the three voices, with the artists addressing dependence on political figures and self-appointed miracle workers.

“Devil’s Game (Live)” is described as a live recording made in one take with a four-piece Ghanaian band. The performance features electric guitar, keyboard, bass and drums, with the document noting that there were no overdubs or grid correction.

The fifth recording, “Rock On,” is presented as an alternative R&B collaboration between two solo artists. The mid-tempo, synth-led production combines guitar and programmed drums, with its lyrics centred on perseverance and the determination to keep moving despite adversity.

The document makes clear that the recordings have been submitted for consideration and does not state that any of the works have been nominated for a GRAMMY® Award.
