Creative Arts Ministry needs to be dissolved; they lack innovative ideas — Shatta Wale
Dancehall musician Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, has called for the dissolution of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts.
The award-winning singer argues that it has failed to introduce innovative initiatives to support the creative industry.
Shatta Wale said he was particularly concerned about the lack of visible interventions to support creatives whose work attracts audiences both locally and in the diaspora.
“We don't see any innovative things coming out from that side, and it's not affecting the industry like we did. You know, actors, musicians. We don't see anything,” Shatta Wale said in an interview on GHOne TV on Friday, August 28.
He said creatives who contribute to promoting Ghana through their work should receive greater institutional support from the government.
