‘I can’t do Gen Z songs unless someone writes them for me’ - Amerado

Ghanaian rapper Amerado Burner has opened up about his evolving musical class, admitting that he finds it difficult to create songs specifically tailored to the Gen Z audience.

Speaking during an interview on Hitz FM with host Doreen Avio, Amerado explained that his musical direction has changed over time, with his current class increasingly appealing to a more mature audience.

"I can’t do Gen Z songs unless someone writes them for me,” he stated.

The rapper, known for his lyrical approach and storytelling, said he is now comfortable making music for what he described as an older generation rather than deliberately chasing the sound and trends dominating the Gen Z space.

Amerado acknowledged that Gen Z represents a significant part of today’s music-consuming audience. However, he said he is not concerned about whether his current music immediately connects with them.

According to him, the younger generation will eventually grow older and may come to appreciate his class and the messages contained in his music.

The rapper’s comments come amid an evolving Ghanaian music landscape, where younger artistes are increasingly experimenting with sounds and trends that resonate strongly with Gen Z listeners.

Amerado has previously spoken about his transition beyond strictly rapping, explaining that he wanted to explore other aspects of music and push himself beyond his limits.

He further suggested that attention should be given to artistes who are better positioned to create music specifically for the younger generation, mentioning Lalid and other emerging musicians.
