‘TV3 GMB fashion night disappointing’ — Teiya

Tung-Teiya Ayisha Dahamani, also known as Teiya and winner of TV3's Ghana's Most Beautiful (GMB) 2022, has expressed disappointment with the recently held Fashion Night of the 20th edition of the pageant.

In a video that has since been deleted on her socials, the former GMB queen who represented the Northern Region, did not mince words, saying, “Listen, I am not happy. I am not happy at all. I mean, Ghana's Most Beautiful is 20 years. It's a legacy year. We've made so much noise about this legacy year because the prize package alone should tell you that this year we are not here to play.

“What was that last night? What was that? Last night was really disappointing,” Teiya said. She added that it was the first time she felt compelled to speak publicly about the show.

“Mostly I'll just watch, keep my opinion to myself and move on, but this one I'm pained. For the 20th anniversary, the designs that we saw were disappointing. I was anticipating some fire competition this year because the prize package alone GH¢200,000 is not easy. It's not for jokers. It was Fashion Night, and it wasn't given. It wasn't given at all.”

According to Teiya, she expected “exceptional, jaw-dropping designs” that would wow viewers.

“What I saw last night, to be honest, wasn't it. Especially for a legacy year? Oh come on.” She was quick to clarify that her criticism was not aimed at the contestants. “No disrespect to any contestant, and for that reason I won't be mentioning names. I think some of them didn't do well because of their designers. We have some great models in that competition who couldn't shine because of their designs, and it's so painful,” she stressed.

The 2022 queen also absolved the organisers of blame, saying the responsibility lies with the designers. “This is not the fault of the organisers because they didn't have control over the designs. The designers had to bring exceptional outfits. It wasn't given. Please, let's do better. It's the 20th anniversary. Don't give us basic.”

Teiya's comments have since sparked debate online, with many fans agreeing that the Fashion Night fell short of expectations for a milestone year.
