Ebenezer Donkoh calls for fact-based investigation into Shattafest UK incident

Media personality and YFM presenter Ebenezer Donkoh has urged the public to avoid rushing to conclusions over the circumstances surrounding the cancellation of Shattafest UK, insisting that the focus should be on establishing the actual cause of the incident rather than assigning blame without evidence.

In a social media post, Donkoh questioned the widely circulated argument that the event organisers, Akwaaba UK, underestimated the influence and popularity of Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale, leading to inadequate preparations for the event.

According to him, such claims do not align with the known facts, pointing out that Shattafest UK was a ticketed event that had sold out before the day of the concert.

"I honestly don't get this argument about the organizers (Akwaaba UK) underestimating Shatta Wale's influence and therefore not preparing adequately for the event," he wrote.

He argued that because the event had sold out in advance, the organisers would have been fully aware of the venue's capacity and the number of ticket holders expected to attend.

Donkoh therefore called for a careful examination of the circumstances that led to the reported stampede and the eventual cancellation of the event, rather than what he described as "shooting blanks" through speculation.

He stressed that a thorough postmortem and investigation would be crucial in identifying the real cause of the incident and implementing measures to prevent similar occurrences at future events.

The media personality further warned that whatever conclusions emerge from the investigation could have significant implications for the organisation of future concerts and entertainment events involving Ghanaian artistes abroad.
