'I wish radio stations would stop playing my old songs – Evangelist Yaw Siki

Ghanaian rapper-turned-evangelist, Yaw Siki, has appealed to radio stations to stop playing his old secular songs, describing them as part of a past life he has put behind him.

Speaking in an interview on Max FM Ghana with host Kumi Kasa, the former hiplife artiste opened up about his transformation and current spiritual journey.

According to Yaw Siki, the songs that once brought him fame and recognition no longer represent who he is today. He noted that those tracks belong to a different chapter of his life — one he has left behind after dedicating himself fully to his Christian faith.

“Those songs are my past. I wish it didn’t happen and that they would rather play the new songs,” he stated during the interview.

Yaw Siki, who rose to prominence in the early 2010s with street anthems that dominated the Ghanaian music scene, stepped away from mainstream music following a near-fatal accident that marked a turning point in his life. Since then, he has devoted himself to evangelism and gospel ministry.

During the interview, he clarified that he is not on a personal crusade to force radio stations to halt the airplay of his old catalogue. However, he emphasized that he feels spiritually led to speak about the matter.

Yaw Siki further indicated that his focus now is on spreading the gospel through his new music and ministry. He would prefer that media houses and fans support his current work rather than continue to associate him with his secular past.
