M-Net Face Of Africa - Ghana's Reps Revealed
After their casting session in Accra, M-Net scouts have selected two models, 20-year-old Hamamat Montia and 22-year-old Kate Aba Techie Menson, to represent Ghana in the new season of MNET Face of Africa contest.
With a staggering 5ft 8 and 5ft 10 in height respectively, Hamamat and Kate could not escape the eyes of the dynamo Koane Kario (Face of Africa 2005) and the model industry veteran, Andiswa Manxiwa to be culled from numerous hopefuls.
For Hamamat and Kate, the next step in their Face of Africa journey is a trip to the scenic island of Zanzibar later this month to participate in a special Model 'Boot-Camp' at which the Top 10 finalists will be selected for the M-Net Face of Africa 2008 finale, to be held in Sun City, South Africa on Saturday, November 29. DStv audiences in over 40 countries will see the show live on M-Net.
With their selection, the twosome are in the running for the Face of Africa 2008 winner prize, which is a whopping USD 50 000 in cash from M-Net and a three-year modelling contract with O Model Africa.
Helmed by former Face of Africa superstar Oluchi Onweagba, the modelling contract prize from O-Model Africa is one of several prizes on offer from the agency.
Other prizes include a year's accommodation in Johannesburg and Cape Town where O Model Africa operates, a life coaching course and financial advice as well as photographic test shoots, the creation of modelling Z-cards and the development of a modelling portfolio.
The total prize package from O-Model Africa is valued at $50 000.
Two years ago, at eighteen, Hamamat Montia was the youngest Malaika Queen and her charming smile will probably be on Ghanaian's minds for a very long time.
She also won the title of Miss Talent for the evening. Recently, while in the USA, Hamamat modelled for Baby Phat and Akon's Konvict Wear.
Kate Aba Techie-Menson runs a modelling agency and can be seen in most of the CANOE quarterly magazine's fashion spreads.
With castings now complete in Botswana, Ghana, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia, and a casting in South Africa happening shortly, the team is now gearing up for the last casting session, to be held in Luanda – Angola on October 11.
