More Fire From Wutah

It has been long in coming but the much-loved duo called Wutah is at last out with the follow-up album to their debut collection and they have titled it Burning Desire.

'Wutah' means 'fire' in Hausa and the young men-Frank and Kobby-seem to be on fire to express what they can do with their talents.

Since the release of their debut album, Anamontuo in 2004, Wutah has endeared themselves to music lovers irrespective of the age bracket.

Their unique stage class, choice of lyrics and general composure during performances keep their audience dancing, tapping their feet or simply singing along to popular tracks like Goosie Gander, Adonko and Big Dreams which won the Best Reggae Song honour at the 2005 Gnana Music Awards.

The new seven-track Burning Desire album is on the Blaqkapricon Music label and Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD) is the Executive Producer. It contains the recognisable Wutah elements like danceable rhythms topped with delightful harmonic vocal rendition.

The duo apparently decided to show themselves off more as singers on this album and from the title track to others like Kotosa and Abibuo Twenebo they are singers rather than rappers.

Kotosa is rendered in Twi, Ga and English and has a lively highlife feel with pleasant saxophone forays. Aseda Ndwom is a slow, inspiring prayer-like piece featuring Kwabena Kwabena.

The reggae itch is still present in their system and the duo vent it out on a track in English called Carpenter.

The lyrics carry romantic undertones just like Kotosa, Lover's Lane and Abibifuo Twenebo. One of the tracks from the debut album that caught on well with the public was Change Your class and there is a remix of that song on the new album.

Wutah is so well known now that many would be keen to check out what they have to say again with their music.

It is early yet to state which specific track would capture listeners but it is clear that the duo are keen to show their flexibility as musicians and it is certain that the songs will grow on listeners as the weeks go by.
