Ghanaian Grammy awards nominee, Rocky Dawuni

Ghanaian reggae and dancehall star Rocky Dawuni has officially received his Grammy certificate for the nomination of his song "Rise" in the Best Global Music Performance category at the 67th Grammy Awards.

The artist expressed heartfelt appreciation to his team, collaborators, and everyone who played a role in achieving this milestone.

This marks Dawuni’s fourth Grammy nomination, reinforcing his stature as one of Ghana’s most internationally recognized musicians.

His previous nods include Best Reggae Album for "Branches of the Same Tree" in 2015, Best Global Music Album for "Voice of Bunbon Vol. 1" in 2021, and Best Global Music Performance for "Neva Bow Down" in 2023.

Known for his genre-blending class that fuses African rhythms with global sounds, Dawuni attributes his global appeal to his authenticity and rooted identity.

"I'm a proud African, and I make sure the identity of my roots is always reflected in my music," he said.

The 67th Grammy Awards were held on February 2, 2025, at the Arena in Los Angeles. Although "Rise" did not take home the award, Dawuni remains positive and hopeful about future opportunities.
