'Kuami Eugene' brand is a handful; signing others isn’t on my radar now — Kuami Eugene

Ghanaian musician Kuami Eugene has clarified that after establishing his own record label, Rockstar Records, he is currently not signing other artistes.

Speaking on Joy FM's Showbiz A-Z with host Kwame Dadzie, the 'Angela' hitmaker emphasized that his label's primary focus is to manage his personal brand and solidify his position in the music industry.

"The Kuami Eugene brand is a handful. Even as a single artiste, it's not been easy. So adding someone now, I don't think it's advisable.

"Maybe in the future, I will ask Richie [Mensah] if he thinks I should start signing people, but I don't think I will do it now. I have so much to do as Kuami Eugene, myself,” he stated.

Kuami Eugene highlighted that his goal is to achieve significant milestones, such as filling larger venues and hosting major events, before considering signing other artistes.

"I should do maybe a 20,000-capacity event. I should have my own Rockstar show. This is the first time I am coming up with 'Let the Kids Come to Kuami Eugene.' I am doing all these things to cement myself in the music industry, and when I get closer, I will start working with other people as well," he explained.

Although some artistes have approached him about joining his label, Kuami Eugene disclosed that he has declined their requests, noting the immense effort required to balance managing his own career.

"They think I have a lot of studios, there is money to shoot something for them, and I have connections. I have made some calls for people to play their songs, so when things go wrong, they think they can get results when they come to me," he added.

When asked about the progress of Rockstar Records, he revealed, "So much. We even have reps in the UK and USA as well. I just signed my contract with Ditto Music, and that is under Rockstar Records."

He also expressed gratitude to his former label, Lynx Entertainment, and its CEO Richie Mensah, for supporting his decision to go solo.

Currently, Kuami Eugene is promoting his latest tracks, including the all-star peace song, Problem, and Show Down.
