Despite Media’s ‘three musketeers’ insulted me for using technology that was alien to their thinking — Vim Lady

Ghanaian media personality Afia Pokua, popularly known as Vim Lady, has criticized her former colleagues at Despite Media, accusing them of undermining her efforts due to envy and deliberate resistance to innovation.

Her comments come after the August 17, 2024 episode of United Showbiz was successfully broadcast live from New Jersey, USA—a move she claims mirrors ideas she proposed three years ago but were rejected by some persons within the media firm.

In a social media video, Vim Lady congratulated Dr. Fadda Dickson and the team behind the successful international broadcast.

However, she took the opportunity to reignite a past conflict with colleagues she refers to as the "three musketeers."

These individuals, whom she identifies as Kwame Nkrumah Tikese, Ohenenana Kwame Amo, and Maame Biamah Kwafo, allegedly ridiculed and blocked her attempts to host a similar e-show remotely back in 2022.

Vim Lady recalled that when she initially suggested leveraging technology to host shows from abroad, she was met with insults and criticism on air.

“Congratulations should go to Dr. Fadda Dickson and the entire team for doing an e-show from New Jersey to Ghana. This is what I proposed three years ago at Despite Media, but the three musketeers came on air to insult me just because using technology in the media was alien to their thinking," she stated.

She alleged that jealousy and sabotage were the hallmark of the opponents she faced, describing how her show was deliberately disrupted through tactics such as cutting internet connections and blocking Facebook access.

“Because Vim Lady proposed it, we should shut it down and insult her. Today, they have been disgraced. Fadda Dickson is doing an e-show from America,” she noted.

Vim Lady further criticized the short-sightedness of those who opposed her, suggesting that embracing such innovations years ago could have propelled the station forward than now.

“If they had supported my idea three years ago, things would be different now,” she said.
