Nescafe African Revelations (NAR) Launch The future of Ghanaian music rests on the shoulders of the youth who are expected to carry on the rich musical tradition this country possesses. In line with this, some individuals and organisations have made several efforts to unearth fresh musical talents to keep the music flame ablaze. On Tuesday, Nescafe launched another talent hunt dubbed, the “Nescafe African Revelations” (NAR) at Busy Internet. The event is a local and sub-regional experience through which Nescafe discovers, celebrates and rewards young and new African musical talents in a fun-filled and competitive way.The objective of NAR is to create a platform for these talents to not only to be known in their countries of origin, but on a sub-regional level. Tucci Goka (m), Brands Manager, Nescafe, Nestle Ghana Tucci Goka, Brand Manager of Nescafe at Nestle Ghana Limited, organisers of the event, in her speech said NAR is Nescafe's way of rewarding its consumers and promoting its values of sociability, pleasure and open-mindedness.“Music is a symbol of dynamism and of open-mindedness. It represents the same values that Nescafe tries to nurture amongst its youth-driven target market. The idea is to broaden the horizons of our consumers and propose new experiences to them”, she ended.Even though this is the maiden edition of NAR in Ghana, the event was held last year ago across West and Central Africa. On board this year apart from Ghana are Senegal, Cote d'Ivoire, Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, DRC, Gabon, Guinea and Cameroon. The contest is open to Ghanaian citizens between the ages of 16 and 24 who will be allowed to compete in the preliminary rounds and progress to the finals, by registering as members of a group/band made up of three or four persons, male, female or both.Nescafe will go on a nation-wide tour, auditioning and selecting the finest groups of such groups who will make it to the national finals to be held in Accra in September. One great thing is that in their quest to unearth these talents, Nescafe is also sending a message across; that no matter how good a group is, morals are vital because songs that are bound to be vulgar or explicit will not be accepted. Contestants who also perform in an obscene manner shall be disqualified. The jury will consist of three people in the music industry; a musician, a music producer, and a music promoter such as a radio personality, a DJ or entertainment reporter. The prize package is worth ¢1 billion. The winners will be offered a record deal worth ¢200 million with OM Studios, will benefit from heavy promotions for the next two years also worth ¢200 million plus other benefits. They will also get the chance to travel to other participating countries where they will get the chance to perform thereby promoting themselves and their country on an international level. The launch drew most of the players in the music industry. Batman and Tinny provided great entertainment for the audience while the MC, Kofi Okyere Darko of Radio Gold, showed his excellent dancing skills.Click here to view pictures
