Stonebwoy’s ‘Manodzi’ live performance featured in Grammy Global Spin series

Stonebwoy, Ghanaian dancehall singer

Stonebwoy, a Ghanaian dancehall artist, recently presented an intense live performance of his new tune "Manodzi," which has been featured in the Grammy's Global Spin series.

The song is on his latest album, '5th Dimension,' which also features GRAMMY Award winner Angélique Kidjo.

Stonebwoy is seen in the Global Spin video performing passionately alongside his band in a practice session.

"Every day, I’m winning/ See me never lose," he proclaims. "I am on a journey/ Forward I go, never returning now/ The wilderness don’t scare me/ Straight to the top I’m aiming now."

"Manodzi" translates to "problems" in Stonebwoy's native language Ewe, however, instead of focusing on troubles, the song has an uplifting message about overcoming adversity.

"It has that sound that speaks Africa. Angélique is an institution of African music all the way through the diaspora," Stonebwoy told OkayAfrica.

"It just shows that, gradually, a boy like me is growing in the realms of people who are institutions,” he added.

This Global Spin inclusion is a significant achievement for the Ghanaian star. Stonebwoy has won over 20 honors locally and has appeared on three GRAMMY-nominated reggae albums.

But, growing up with limited ties to the entertainment industry, he never imagined such global success.

"Confidence was a major key to my success," Stonebwoy revealed, adding, "I want my music to inspire others to believe in themselves."

Stonebwoy just finished touring North America to push his album '5th Dimension.'

On October 1st, he'll kick off another round of international dates across Australia, the UK, and Europe.

This Global Spin appearance makes Stonebwoy the second Ghanaian artist featured on the series this year.

It follows a performance by rapper Sarkodie that helped showcase Ghana's thriving music scene to the world.
