Music:Knii Lante - Killa Machine
Knii Lante’s latest project is the cover of Ed Sheeran’s monster hit “Thinking Out Loud” produced by Dean Fraser. The sweetest voice out of Africa embraces this song with much love, passion and emotion and this synchronizes well with the smooth sax solo of Dean Fraser.
Knii Lante (pronounced ~ nee lantaye) is a Ghanaian artiste that grew up in Accra and as a youth he enjoyed listening to the music of Wulomei, Osibisa, Fela Ransome Kuti, AB Crentsil, and many other African musicians. Later, he was influenced and inspired by the music of Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff, Abba and then Michael Jackson, Luther Vandross, Steel Pulse and Babyface.
Knii Lante is a multi- talented artiste, musician, humanitarian, an excellent songwriter and composer, plays the piano and guitar and sings well enough to have earned himself the best male vocal performer in his home country on two occasions. In addition, Knii Lante is a highly qualified practicing physician specializing in internal medicine and he is sometimes affectionately referred to as “the singing doctor from Ghana."
In 2010 he released his first local major album "Love and Revolution." His vocal delivery on this album won him his second Ghana Music Awards recognition (the first being for his collaboration with Michael Dwamena on the hit song "Ngozi" a couple of years earlier). The song "Rocky Road" went on to win him a nomination and then the actual Yaa Asantewa award at the first Bass Awards in Ghana.
At the end of 2012 Knii Lante released a silky reggae (promo) single "House of Pain", recorded in Jamaica with producer Dean Fraser, which won him yet another GMA award. Arguably the sweetest voice out Africa in decades, Knii Lante is considered as Africa’s rising star. His “True Feelings” album was produced in Jamaica & Ghana by: Dean Fraser, Mikey Bennett & Joe Amoah. His breakout single Baby Take Good Care the Remix with Queen Ifrica is the promotional song and a fitting introduction to the well-produced “True Feelings” album that covers a diversity of genres - Reggae, World Beat, Dance Hall, R&B and Pop.
Knii Lante returned to Jamaica in May 2014 to launch the "True Feelings" album at the Redbones Blues Café and in August 2014 secured a distribution agreement with VPAL in New York. The promotional single “Baby Take Good Care – the Remix featuring Queen Ifrica” peaked at #3 on the local Jamaican chart. Knii Lante was invited to Jamaica’s International Rebel Salute festival in January 2015 where he gave an outstanding performance.
