Knii Lante gets Bass Awards nominations

Knew he was up to something good when he stepped into the internationally acclaimed Grafton Complex Studio in Kingston, Jamaica in February, last year, to record his House of Pain song.

Apart from propelling him to attention in international reggae circles, the song won him the Best Male Vocal Performance at the last Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. Now the song has won him seven nominations at the upcoming Bass Awards.

Knii Lante is in contention for honours in the Most Popular Reggae Song of the Year, Male Vocalist, Record of the Year, Artiste of the Year, Best Songwriter-Reggae/Dancehall, Best Reggae Artiste of the Year and the Music Video (Reggae) categories.

The Bass Awards ceremony will be held at the National Theatre in Accra on Saturday, July 6 where African Dancehall and reggae artistes who have done exceptionally well between 2010 and 2012 will be awarded.

The House of Pain singer is also scheduled to perform at the Bass Awards Nominees Jam which comes off at the Accra Sports Stadium on July 5. Headlining the concert will be Elephant Man from Jamaica and Nigeria's General Pype.

The Ghanaian line-up for the show include Samini, Stonebwoy, Kaakie, Jupita, Eazzy, Blakk Rasta, Black Prophet, Natural Face and others.

'It is a delight to know that House of Pain continues to thrill people. I'm looking forward to picking up some awards on the night,' says Knii Lante.

The Bass Awards is organised by Rackus Productions and powered by Bullhaus Entertainment and Solid Multimedia.
