Fast rising hit, “OhieHor” by Chymny Crane
You've probably heard it already. At an engagement or funeral, in the gym or on the streets. The humourous hit “OhieHor”. If you haven't you will soon. Apparently it has its own dance already. Our next dance craze? Potentially!!!
The artist behind the hit is as unconventional as the song itself. For starters, he calls himself Chymny Crane – real name Nana Yaw Darfoor. He may not be entirely new though; he was on the Sprite Emcee Africa competition and has made an appearance on DJ Black's Open House Party before. Since then, he's been quietly bubbling under, perfecting his craft and waiting for the perfect moment. And it seems his moment has come.
OhieHor is a story we all know too well, the defensive girl who thinks she's fooling everyone and yet ends up pregnant. It was also the soundtrack for Shirley Frimpong Manso's Africa Movie Academy Awards nominted movie, 'Contract'. It's a theme that resonates on many different levels and it's evident in the way the song has spread. The fact that Chimny Crane hasn't yet officially gotten radio airplay and yet the song is becoming a regular on the streets of Accra, is a testament to how much it resonates with Ghanaians. The head bumping beat and catchy chorus don't hurt either. Even people who don't understand the lyrics are jamming to it.
But it doesn't seem to Surprise Crane, who is under the management of Sparkx Media, much. He's been preparing for this moment for a while. Follow and interact with Chymny Crane on twitter: @iamchymnycrane and Facebook: Chymny Crane
