CINE AFRIK PREMIERES “HIS MAJESTY’S SERGEANT” ON INDEPENDENCE DAY

As part of this year's Independence Day celebration Cine Afrik will be screening “His Majesty's Sergeant”, a film about the African and Asian participation in World War II fighting on the side of Great Britain, their colonial masters, in the jungles of Burma and South East Asia. Produced by Ghana's film pioneer, the late Ato Kwamina Yanney, in 1983/84 the movie captures a crucial period that served as a catalyst for the emancipation of black Africa.

“His Majesty's Sergeant”, a movie that has never been released for sale, depicts three missing soldiers thrown together by fate and war, embroiled in their own individual battle for supremacy. The three soldiers who seek refuge in a cave are at loggerheads as to who should be the superior amongst them and this ends with the death of one of them. The movie premieres on 6th March, 2013 at 6:00pm on Cine Afrik.
