A new CEO comes to town

A scene from The CEO, Selassie Ibrahim [L] and Desmond Elliot

Come Monday, November 15, a new CEO comes to town carrying the world on her shoulder.

This CEO is an uncompromising, principled, and a very demanding woman who is set to prove to everyone that she can surpass public expectations of a woman.

The CEO tells the story of Gloria Lee (Selassie Ibrahim), a CEO who is meticulous and apparently 'unfriendly' woman.

Gloria is married to her job. So 'tight' is this 'marriage' that she barely has time for her family - her husband is virtually starving of you know what...

She basically plays life by her own rules and if you are her worker, you dare step in her way at your own risk, or that of your job. Working with her was just hell.

Her staff constantly worked under pressure and with no room for mistakes, you are always forced to stretch yourself. You just have to marry the job like she does.

Farida Alhassan (Nadia Buari), her worker, was caught in Gloria's web. She was faced with the choice of fighting to keep her job or fighting to keep her relationship with a demanding boyfriend (James Gardner).

Gloria's wish to control the world didn't stop. Exchanges between her and her husband, Larry Lee (Desmond Elliot), who is a movie director, over allegations that he was sleeping with an actress got him parking out of the house.

The world came crashing on Gloria when two dismissed workers device a plan, kidnap her daughter and demand a ransom. This was a wake-up call for this CEO.

How she pulls through this is the answer the movie holds.

Directed by John Ezedomi and Afam Okereke, the movie was written by Selassie Ibrahim who also plays the role of Gloria, the CEO.

The CEO comes from the stables of Smarttys Management and Productions, an outfit that specialises in movie productions, adverts, documentaries, public relations, magazines and consultancy services.

It is due for the market on Monday, November 15.
