FOKA TV has been crowned Best Media Channel in Africa at the just-ended Africa’s 100 Most Influential Women Awards & Conference, marking a significant milestone for the fast-rising media brand.

The prestigious event, held last Thursday, 26th March 2026, at the British Council in Accra, brought together distinguished personalities from across the continent, celebrating excellence and impact in various fields. The ceremony, organised by Imperial Leo Network, served as a platform to honour individuals and institutions making meaningful contributions to Africa’s growth.

FOKA TV’s recognition stands as a testament to its growing influence in the media landscape and its commitment to purposeful broadcasting. The award highlights the channel’s dedication to quality content, social impact, and advocacy-driven media practice.

Receiving the award on behalf of the organisation, the Managing Director of FOKA TV expressed profound gratitude to the organisers and stakeholders who have supported the brand’s journey. In his remarks, he shed light on the core vision behind the establishment of FOKA Media, which comprises both television and radio platforms.

According to him, the initiative was born out of a strong desire to empower women within the media space. He emphasised the numerous challenges many female graduates face after completing media training, particularly when attempting to enter the professional field of journalism.

He further revealed that some young women encounter exploitation in the industry, where unethical demands are sometimes made in exchange for employment or opportunities. This, he noted, remains a troubling reality that continues to hinder the growth and confidence of aspiring female journalists.

The Managing Director reaffirmed FOKA Media’s commitment to creating a safe, fair, and empowering environment where talent is recognised based on merit, not compromise. He stressed that the organisation will continue to champion integrity, professionalism, and equal opportunities within the media industry.

The night’s celebration not only recognised excellence but also sparked important conversations about ethical standards and inclusivity in Africa’s media space. For FOKA TV, the award is not just an achievement, but a call to further its mission of using media as a tool for empowerment and positive change across the continent.
