'Kim' and 'Boris' meet with protesters in Hong Kong

Protesters gather in Mong Kok, Kowloon, marking four years since authorities faced furious crowds over a dispute about pop-up snack stands. Back in 2016, government health workers followed by police tried to shut down informal food sellers in the densely-populated Mong Kok area of Kowloon. Street hawkers with pop-up stalls selling snacks are a common part of Lunar New Year celebrations. Crowds reacted against the government enforcement attempts, resulting in hours of clashes overnight, during which police fired warning shots using live ammunition.
