Syrian army to deploy along Turkey border as US orders pullback

Syrian government forces have struck a deal with the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which will see the Syrian army deploy along the border with Turkey. The agreement comes in the face of a Turkish offensive in northern Syria that has pushed the SDF further south from the areas it once occupied along that border. But it is unclear as yet how this new alliance will affect the ongoing fighting or how their agreement to work together will pan out.
