Acting Deputy CEO of the Gaming Commission, Lamtiig A. Apanga, has defended GoldBod amid the ongoing debate over the reported US$1.7 billion loss linked to Ghana's domestic gold purchase programme.

He argues that the amount should be understood as a cost of the programme, rather than a loss directly attributable to GoldBod, particularly when the Bank of Ghana sells the gold.
