Supreme Court allows Trump White House ballroom construction to continue

The Supreme Court has ruled that construction on Trump's half-built White House ballroom can continue, for now, with Chief Justice John Roberts issuing the temporary order the same day an injunction to halt above-ground work was set to take effect. An appeals court had earlier paused the project pending congressional approval.

The $400 million project, up from an initial $200 million estimate, features Versailles-inspired designs with Corinthian columns, yellow marble floors and gold presidential seals. Trump insists it's privately funded and that taxpayers won't pay a cent, though US media reports suggest costs could reach $600 million, with public money involved.
