Vice President of IMANI Africa, Kofi Bentil, has welcomed the government's decision to give Adamus Resources Limited a 12-month reprieve, describing the move as a positive development.
“I have to say congratulations to the President for this move. I am happy,” Mr Bentil said.
The government has directed Adamus Resources, the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources and the Minerals Commission to develop a 12-month roadmap to turn around the operations of the mine.
The implementation of the roadmap will be overseen by a six-member management team, comprising three representatives from the company and three from government.
The team is expected to supervise measures to restore the mine's operations and improve its financial position, as government seeks to safeguard one of Ghana's few operating indigenous large-scale mines.
