Top Story: Ghana Races to Avert More Blackouts as Power Crisis Deepens
Government is racing against time to complete a temporary control system by September to avert further nationwide blackouts, following two major power outages in just three weeks.
The latest blackout is linked to challenges at the Akosombo generation point, where a fire outbreak in April damaged six units and disrupted the facility's protection system. An investigative committee had recommended the construction of a new state-of-the-art control room to restore full protection.
Energy Minister John Abdulai Jinapor says government is working around the clock to complete the temporary system and prevent a repeat of the outages.
But the Institute of Energy Security (IES) is demanding a deeper investigation and full disclosure of the country's power challenges.
Tonight on Top Story, we examine what is behind the latest blackouts, the government's response and what it will take to secure Ghana's power supply. #TopStory #MyJoyOnline #JoyNews https://www.myjoyonline.com/ghana-news/ Subscribe for more videos just like this: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChd1DEecCRlxaa0-hvPACCw/
