'UNFAIR! We weren't given any notice of breaches before lease revocation - Adamus Resources
Adamus Resources has challenged the government's decision to revoke its mining leases, insisting it was never formally notified of any material breach that could justify such action.
Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show, the company's Head of Geology and Exploration, Ekow Taylor, said Adamus consistently engaged with the Minerals Commission and addressed concerns raised during routine regulatory inspections.
According to him, the company did not receive any formal notice identifying a serious violation that could have resulted in the revocation of its mining lease.
His comments come after the government upheld the revocation of Adamus Resources' mining leases following a review by a Ministerial Review Committee. Lands and Natural Resources Minister Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah said the committee largely affirmed the breaches identified in the initial assessment and directed the Minerals Commission to take over operations.
Adamus Resources has rejected the findings, describing the revocation as unlawful and contrary to Ghana's mining laws, and has indicated it will challenge the decision in court.
