GH¢10.82bn DDEP Coupon Payment Could Restore Investor Confidence — Analyst

Financial and tax analyst Nelson Cudjoe Kuagbedzi says government's latest GH¢10.82 billion coupon payment to bondholders under the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP) could help rebuild investor confidence and restore liquidity to Ghana's capital market.

According to him, the DDEP has significantly affected investor confidence, contributing to relative illiquidity in Ghana's financial market and subdued investor appetite.

He says government's decision to settle the latest coupon payment in full and on schedule is therefore an important signal to investors and could help strengthen confidence in Ghana's debt market.

Mr Kuagbedzi also believes consistent and timely payments will be crucial to restoring trust and encouraging renewed participation in the country's capital market.
