AMA: Aboboyaa Must Have Reflectors And Stay Out Of Inner Lanes

The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has directed all operators of tricycles, popularly known as “Aboboyaa,” to install reflector stickers on their vehicles by the end of August 2026 to improve visibility and road safety at night.
Mayor of Accra, Michael Kpakpo Allotey, said tricycle operators will also be required to wear reflective clothing while operating.
The AMA has further directed Aboboyaa operators to stay out of the inner lanes of roads as part of measures to improve traffic safety and reduce the risk of accidents.
The directive forms part of efforts by the Accra Metropolitan Assembly to regulate the operation of tricycles and improve road safety across the capital.
