The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) is yet to fully clear outstanding payments owed to the Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet), putting pressure on the agency's ability to meet its statutory financial obligations.
The unpaid funds, particularly portions of aviation charges due to GMet for providing critical meteorological services to the aviation sector, have raised concerns about the sustainability of weather and climate services essential to flight safety.
In an interview via Zoom, the Director-General of GMet, Dr Eric Asuman, provides further details on the issue.
